yes now i know you again, i first hear your c64 tune, it was great but i did not recognize you in it :)

Very cool. I love C64 stuff.

if there was a ever a "beat-em-up" game C64, I imagine it would sound like this. scrappy, and groovy.

haha I love this so much. what you did with the bass line is killer.

glitchtastic!

the beat is certainly punchy, but i like that. happy happy song :))))))

I enjoyed this track a lot, but the beat seems loud to me. Might just be my speakers, though?

such a banger

Some of the lead synths are very Follin-esque! Awesome.

great remix... btw i am still impressed by how full and polished your sega songs sound

I really like it too. Nice work!

Reminds of Toejam and Earl meets Double Dragon.

this CANNOT be using the sega genesis sound chip... it's so clear and crisp!!! holy crap this is good

This is a great little tune. I could listen to JRedd all day.

That lead at 0:46 almost sounds like it's from a Gameboy. XD

so good maaaan you should see my jredd stockpile on my computer :D you should make my dreams come true and make a 1 bit hip hop beat album :D :D :D :D

Cool track. Sounds like medieval times stuff.

Absolutely outstanding, I cant say my brain agrees with too many FM tunes, but, this is one it resonates with completely. Superbly mixed.

Pretty nice tune. It sounds a little Christmasey almost.

Kind of reminds me of ending credits music in a game. It's a nice optimistic song.

I still love that tune ... so much fun

Totally lives up to its name!

Songs like this are the reason why I got a closet full of megadrives!

is this a new engine? also noice noizes

that was pretty nice

We've literally reached the of the chiptune spectrum and it sounds awesome

this is nice. tritone is interesting. Some of the cool effects are only acheivable at maximum speed but then overall quality ends up really grainy. But this shows you can still make a decent sounding track at a lower speed w/o any of those tricks :)

Tritone is the best, but it feels a bit odd working with three channels in beepola for some reason.

Nice. It's great that Beepola has tritone now :D

Great stuff as always, Jredd!

if the world was fair you'd have a recording contract with EMI for making exactly this kind of song. Honestly i feel like my elderly relatives would like this cuz its so accessible even with the glitch effects (which are awesome btw).

I like "Back in the Groove" a lot, thats the kind of stuff I always love when you do it, awesome track.

I also had a lot of fun with Dojo Drop, the setting was awesome in that track. Some sweet chills!

"Cyber Evolution" build up pretty nicely, the chorus is really cool :D

I like the straight kick clap beat in "Neon Glow" a lot, have to check if I can manage to make something cool with such kinda beat. Cool stuff!

I like the use of the noises in "Galaxy rush" ... such details are always welcome.

Good work guys :)

oh dayum, that comment will take a while, listening to the album now :D

I think the tune fits the title perfectly

You guys always do such cool stuff Jredd

very different from what i have heard from you, but good :)

a little different from what i am used to hear from you, but there some very interesting stuff in it

Interesting sounds, i enjoyed it!

Jazzy_Gruppetto.segagenesis

Yay, it totally fits the Sonic 3 sound style! Nice work! (Nice touch to use S3's samples ;) )

yeah, I can tell ... very chilled stuff

I appreciate the use of scratches/retriggers to break things up to introduce the new section :)

that some cool stuff <3

That was very interesting. I like all the little gimmicks of the tune.

remixing this one ")

soul fist is Morrigan's projectile special move in Darkstalkers... so this makes me think of morrigan dancin at a chiptune club

Melody writing reminds me of Groovemaster 303, which is understandable.

Adoring the filter effect on the lead about a minute in

Glad i could help in pointing you in the right direction to acquire the samples. Also glad something like this came out of me sending them to you. :D Brilliantly done!

Ah, this is nice. And yay, your new album, I saw a preview of it on youtube, loved it!

Once again, there's nothing Jredd didn't win this week. Groovemaster too. This was a Jreddmaster week. It's official, they are back! :D

Well done. I am glad to have had a part in this awesome track! :D

Welcome to the Slam Jam courtesy of B-Ball superstar Jredd!

This is really nice, very beautiful and powerful as well. I love it! :D

Can lift Pyramids of Giza with mind
Can't drive car
siq remix

This is beautiful! :'D

never watched DBZ myself, but this remix is nice either way :P

the name is absolutely fitting :)

Feel good music :)

I remember 8BC! :D

i like it! sounds VERY different from your FM synthesis stuff but just as good

It's... Beautiful!.. O_O

I'm going to keep working on my game so I can be THIS good. This is a very solid remix!

Reminds me of a Dan Deacon song for some reason

This is fantastic - UncleBibby brought up the term "grunge" and ..yeah, this actually fits that bill pretty well. The dissonance and edginess is highly appealing to me

i like it, it is reminds me of an old sci fi theme

i like the grunge and the mix and the lead interplaying with the bass

This is exactly how I love remixing, getting an idea like a bassline and then running in a new direction with it. I really enjoyed this one.

Middle part is sick too! Nice Egyptian sound!

Awesome Stuff! Very Action Pack and Brassy!

I really like the bass in this.

I have to check out that vids ... the track has an awesome atmosphere

That are some pretty samples I hope you are thankful for that ^^

Defnitely enjoying, those drums sound REAL nice

awesome man i love every track you did for this game and they're still not old.. if only people could listen to foreboding fortress mmm i love that one haha

I really like the original and I really like this version! Well played.

Ohh, I really like this one! Well done busting that challenge.

this is really really epic and funky with lots of detail without much repetition of anything... very awesome... very glitchy and hyper... i like the changes you've made to fit the songs together...

damn man, that was a sweet experiment, I loved listening to this because the tune really offers interesting changes. I think I have a go on this challenge too when I have some time for it ... cute and scary, I think I could do that if it does not mean it has to be both at a time. I would write something that is as whole song cute and scary :P

I'd say this fits the "cute & scary" bill quite well, great work!

really nice use of the sms side and the transitions between that and fm ;)

interesting!! the detuned wind chime thingies ~.3 sound really nice! hmm cute and scary..maybe those twins in the shining? ahh it's tricky!

Its Tatsy and Mysterious, Tasterious!

funky relaxed beats and bright shiny sound Jredd!

This has a PC98 feel to it, somewhat. Like it's a song in a visual novel for the PC98 or something.

Really liking the tempo/time sig. changes, great work :)

I really like the warm sounding strums up until 40 seconds. Really nice overall.

yeah, dig this side of jredd. mellow and melodic, mmmmm.

I like that acoustic guitar sound that comes in @ 0:40. That's really cool. Such a soothing song this is.

btw this is really really good... love the fm drums, they are pretty different from the other ones... but the rest of the song is really mellow and ambient too

maybe you could use this technique to make room to do something different with the sample channel, like maybe vocal samples that u string together into lyrics or maybe piano chord samples or something like that

that is just wonderful! I really like when you do stuff like this. The percussions are pretty well and give the tune a nice touch. More of that! :)

oooo time change at ~1.5 is boss! :D the bass and melody at e.g. beginning, 1.2, 2.45 are so squiggy and resonant and pleasing! i think this is channeling zeliard but actually i hate comparing 8 bit music to games so ill stop!

this is the best you guys have done in a while, in my opinion... i really like this one, different style than some of your others... a bit too crazy in some parts but maybe thats a good thing

that is a big one guys. I like how the speed raises during the intro and I loved the space themed setting

Oh yes, I saw this on Youtube. It's always nice to see the Dynamic Duo.

I have no idea how I have managed to miss out on this one here....

Whoa deazamon has pitch bend? That pretty damn awesome! They always made good sound production engines, some sounds do sound like natsume snes sounds (especially the last note used in snes ninja warriors and power rangers). Even deazamon nes gave you bad ass DCPM drums to use in the music editor. Great track and nice to hear some old memory stuff.

I thought he was wearing Saiyan armor at first! LOL

I love how that tracks sounds like it should have been put right into the Secret of Mana :)

I love this tune, but I think I love the story behind it even more, haha. Great stuff Jredd :)

That buzz is video noise, and can be completely removed with some audio editing magic. Cool tune !

those string sound at 28 seconds in sound amazing. Very similar to the string sound from the gba fire emblem game which is awesome.

wow, this is pretty niche man!!! I don't know any other chip musicians composing for the sega saturn, let alone composing really great music for it!!

Haha, that was pretty tighttttt

lol.. personality overload... :) u guys are.. well i would say one of a kind.. but 2 of a kind? bhhaha

YUUUUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

The main ingredient on making this version of Trunks is Jredd sauce. It tastes like green tomato sauce and laughing gas.

lol :p na i was just adding to the insanity

hhaa ;> damn thats harsh

It's a very happy, sentimental melody, and you did a great Genesis transcription. Thanks again for sharing this!

You make this sound great in FM. : )

aw man, this bring back memories of crashing and blowing up because Im terrible at racing games. Great renderation

woot weekly top track! well deserved

bhaha ;) i saw this and knew it was from you

beautiful man as always!

oh maaaan, this is goodness

かめはめ波!!!!!!!!

Way to go buddy! One of the "greats" loves your song. That is some unfathomable coolness! =D

Awesome Awesome, It a great feeling when video game composers check out your music especially the ones the ones that have an influence on your music!

To be precise, he was writing in Hiragana as opposed to kanji(although one could argue hiragana is chinese-based anyway since hiragana is the cursive of Sougana which in turn was the cursive of manyougana which was pure chinese characters read in Japanese including particles), but yeah. Anyway, this song is good as usual.

Yuzo Koshiro listened to your track? thats awesome!

Awesome work as always ! :)

I'm not sure who linked it over to him, but I saw Yuzo Koshiro retweet it.

Hey Jredd, just thought you'd like to know that Yuzo Koshiro says your song "Neon Alley" is "very cool!".

https://twitter.com/yuzokoshiro/status/431694277798670337

Late happy birthday Jredd :) Fantastic song, melancholic, it blows my horn.

Really nice! :D I'd love myself forever if i made a song like this on my birthday. That'd be the best birthday present ever. So i imagine you feel the same yourself. Though i imagine you'd be that way anyway because you are smiling non-stop anyway, like the joker. So yeah, my statement was pointless. :/

Beautiful stuff man, especially the electric piano (or guitar?) slow arpeggio in the intro. Good thick multichannel instrumentation there (sounds like stereo panning and a touch of vibrato to thicken it). Your drum sampling, and overall mixing style has really seemed to blossom and matured here. The melody and progression in a middle section reminds me of Groovemaster303's improv section on his remix for the "choose your spacecraft" remix for Vector Nova B Side.

veryy chill jredd... me likes it ;3

This is quite nice. Short but sweet.

Very relaxing, great stuff :)

Really chill tune! Love it :)

is that a 7 beat pattern that the tune starts out with? love odd time; been writing a lot of odd time myself as of late. pretty engaging tune, liked the different time signatures

Yes! This is again the style I like from you. Lovely melodies. The track progresses in a cool way. Middle part is very nice, especially the somehow FM sounding lighter drums (are they actually?), makes it sound really special. Makes me hope for some Jredd FM only tunes again. I think Blip Hop Loader is my favourite from this whole site. But I digress, this here is awesome. The melodies made me feel nostalgic. :)

Eh? Did I hear that right? Project Y? Well, I've connected the dots: that's apparently a new Sega Genesis game by Watermelon.

Yeah they sounded very clear great job guys!

Love the tempo pick up. And the square are nes jumpy like! Is some of the samples are wav? Or all are put in the VGMMM?

Tomy AND the dynamic duo? Damn, today is a great day for the Genesis.

I blame Circuit Bird :-). She spoke of us doing some New Jack Swing and I said I normally set out to do one style and it ends up being a mad mixture of genres. This song is a perfect example of that. Without her I doubt we would have started this, so Thank you Luka!

In fact, it sounds so much 80's it's surreal! ^-^

Hi Jredd,
This is a really right on with your original track. I really enjoy the SN79489 chip. There's some really crazy stuff you can do with it too. I'm sure you're aware of Super PSG that was just released by Aly James. He figured out a way to get SID sounds out of the chip with just software tweaks.
I really enjoyed this PSG interpretation of Neon Star Field. You have really figured out how to use VGMM to the max.
My preference is Deflemask because of the more accurate PSG and SSG-EG emulation, and the fact you have less problems converting samples over to cartridge in the songs. However, I still use VGMM for experimentation and Special Mode tracks.
Great job! I have a new favorite.

Also, Tomy, you are technically right on the frequency spiking at those operator settings. I actually have been experimenting with alot of distorted sounds by spiking things up close to the max values in varying degrees with SG-EEG settings. I got a really cool 80's sample snare drum thing going on with this. I hope to post this sometime soon. By the way, I'm one of you biggest fans! I think your music transcends the boundaries of Chiptune and just straight up Electronica. A lot of my current work was partly inspired by your tequniques and FM only style, and your music is really unique, and just flat out art. I look forward to more. Even my little brother and roomate (who typically doesn't like chipmusic) was quite impressed with your style. Thank you for offering it to the world!

Hi Jredd,
It's good to be here! My first comment will be on this song. I actually think it's quite bearable for me in terms of the frequency issue. I can see how other people may find it ear piercing, but I don't have a problem with it myself.
Some of my songs have frequencies that are piercing to my roomates ears and it's just a sharp square tone... so I think it has to do with the individual and maybe the audio speakers they use. I find that increasing the bass moderately will help to drown out the "piercing" effect of some FM sounds.
Now, I really admire the synthesized electro guitar sounds you got here. Very good! It really does sound like a wailing lead guitar with the slight portamento glide down toward the note breaks. You're a regular Tim Follin!

Great work Jredd...

we tend to do the same style over and over again,
so i personally think, that we can develop us a lot by forcing us self, to sometime do a completely different style.

this is so not jredd, yet at the same time, its so jredd haha. awesome track! i second what dropbit said :P

Love this song Jredd do more like this one :) make a EP Called THE 25th Hour one more hour for getting DOWNnnnnnn

AWESOME DUDES! Love tham dam solos!

Insta-like for sheer awesomeness.

you definitely got a classic feel Jredd! the rhythms are neat, sounds great!

Awesome bass on this.

I like the drumwork a lot man, that kick is nice and punchy

intro already got me

Of course your famitracker skills would be just as amazing as your fm shit... great track man. I love those classic jredd trills in this one

Really rad dude! You should do more in famitracker! :D

Pretty cool. Reminds me of Robocop on the NES.

This is naiss !

One of your better tracks I have to say

Aw jeez, this is rad. Great job Jredd!

nice job on those drums

I played this track on my show this week! https://soundcloud.com/djcutman/thisweek034

Can't listen to this without smiling :D Awesome lyrics and you really made it all fit to the beat!

You got too much TL on some instrument here, starts right at the beginning either the guitar or maybe bassline? It even sounds to me that the feedback (FB) value is either 7 or 6. I don't remember the exact values but something like anything lower than 22 on OP1 with FB7 and lower than 14 on OP1 with FB6 introduces this high freq spike. But when the TL goes closer to zero it changes more to noise and it evens out the freq spike but you can't do much else than hihats with a sound like that. There's not much else to do than reduce the TL value or FB value or to make a quick decay with OP1 so that it isn't constantly on. A guitar sound will be hard to "fix" as it really relies on the high feedback to get that distorted sound. This does sound really nice, but a bit hard to listen as of now. Hope you find this helpful.

So, so nice. More GG & SMS is needed here. I also hope that you'll do more in this style, as in something with a strong melody/theme. This is lovely dreamy music.

I like that percussions a lot. Always digging your groovey stuff. Really looking forward to a collab between you two

Thanks man :D This is extremely flattering! Really looking forward to doing the collab!

lol dat intro. Magnificent as always.

INSTANT FAVORITE :)))))) Keep this up Jredd. btw i envy your leads

This was great !

Gro~ovy! Looking forward to the collab!!

This is incredibly awesome !

OMG a Jredd/Bananas collab? sign me up!!

This is some unearthly level of amazing. That's the only way i can describe this! I'm so excited i am going to ask some random person if i have his/her permission to kiss him/her...well i just came back from typing that only to tell you that i had been denied my kiss. :( Well, i guess i am going to play something dark, depressing, and dead like "Something In The Way" by Nirvana.

Some guy on the famitracker forums made modified modules with multiple expansion chips. I don't know if they're still up because it was ages ago that I got them. Before I found those I just opened several famitrackers at once with different expansions and synced them with "sync play" (a software that makes all open famitrackers play at the same time). It was a pain in the ass to say the least. I'm a veteran Famitracker user but I've tried other trackers as well, so using VGMMM shouldn't be too much of a problem! One thing that could be cool though would be to mix the sounds of VGMMM with famitracker. Guess we could talk more about that via skype if we decide to make something togheter!

It sounds like a lot of fun! If you would like to do a collab sometime I would definitely be up for it :D

How do you guys make the collabs? Do you meet irl and sit down and work on the song togheter or do you do it over skype or something?

Perhaps the most fun collab I've been part of. I really looked forward to joining in with another collab with you guys, and this turned out to be just as awesome as I expected it to be. Really happy with this one, and I also basically worked with stuff that is basically the opposite of what I'm good at composing, like that lead around 0:37, when I'm usually good at bass and drums, LOL. Thanks for this round of awesome fun :D

This one gave me chills! Great job :D

The bass in the beginning was giving me some major Vectorman vibes. Anyway, y'all did great.

Very nice but a bit repetitive.

Can't get enough of this. Geez man, you're pumpin hot tracks nonstop. :P

i like the look of the "jredd" text. I think if the text could blend in better with what you have at the bottom would be nice. as of now, they look separated. other than that, I think it looks great

*raps*

"I'm as smooth as the groove that is making you move"...

Errrr yeah, I'll get my coat. :-D

Congrats dude. The version without vocals has done really well on my soundcloud page too. Too see both this version and that do so well is awesome because I remember when working on it we needed something to make it sound complete and we never got round to it. Then recently I dug it out again and basically just added a few extra bits to make a nice loop so I could get it out there for people to enjoy. Now I just need to make an MC-Groove version, complete with my classic "GROOVE" used every few seconds haha.

JreddCollective.org:) . I'm looking forward to the day that three of your songs get the 3 spots.

That's some pretty cool work you did with that. Looks pretty professional too.

This is pretty awesome :D I really like the lyrics and it works quite well (even though you are not a trained singer?!). Good one Jredd!

this needs to win

I managed to create 'Hip Hop' suitable FM drums using my DX7, but on VGMMM it is really hard! It seems impossible to make 'em sound more fitting than samples... Anyway, great beat, great lyrics, good job guys! =)

Indeed. Those are nice drums.

I totally need to try this for the hell of it sometime. I might try sacrificing sampled drums for my own sampled voice and make FM drums instead, but who knows. Either way, I enjoyed it without lyrics, I enjoyed it with lyrics.

oh no I liked it... just wow lol

Once you explain it, the idea is clear, makes sense and it's cool! but your current image does not help to get the idea :/

Haha, this is great! I also remember your previous foray into this back when there was that little chip-hop boom on the good' ole 8bc.

-Album art should be a square
-text is hard to read
-the filters you used are over-used and cliché
-composition is weak
-colors are so obviously inverted
-the idea is not bad but i can't really see what are you
trying to say with this

These lyrics are gold !

Haha I enjoyed it fo' sho' :P

Nice piano FM sound! The drums works and scratches are nice. Great job!

dont lik e jazz. this cool! sound lik snoic gem musc

that was a well deserved first place ... cool piece, specially like the piano

Waohhh this is so goood !
This track has so much groove in it, I love it ! :)

actually theres plenty of things to like about this song

love the squelch crash :)

Bad ASS i just wanna pick up a machine gun and kill everything thats bad hahahah

love the scratch sound mixed in with the track

Smooth masterpiece. It's like a a stage performance that's a hybrid of a magic show and a rap concert. Where he also makes Rob disappear. :D

oh god, those chord stabbs.... eargasm

Love the sonic 3 samples haha

This one is really smooth! :D

Yeah, agree with W. But the general feel is still there.

I still love that tune, but is it just me or is there something going on in the high frequencies that is a bit ear piercing

Oh man, we made the front page! :D

Those guitars are awesome. Great job!

thanks for the tips, thats definitely given me something to look into!

what is the best way to create a heavy guitar sounding instrument in vgm mm? I've been having a little look. It seems like the instruments I get tend to end up sounding brilliant on only particular notes rather than all the notes on octave.

How can make cool sound? Is super mario musik?

I like dat percussions too

I can't believe how awesome this is. Very nice work.

I love just how 80's this sounds!

and this is a cut above, like really good

awesome Jredd :D glad you are still a steady poster

always on point, dude. always.

The percussion is fabulous!

alright, I am gonna listen to this again, take my love :)

didn't know you worked in famitracker too :) love it

Must say that I like the original much better. It's more detailed and the sampling is great! Good rendition though.

Just curious, what tracker did you use for this, and can I use it on a Mac?

This is brilliant, I love it! Great stuff

that was pretty awesome, well done guys

I like that track a lot ... sweet album too :)

Generic "reminds me of LSD game" comment

Not so generic "reminds me of the sanic game" comment

greatest thing ever maid

The Guitar/metal part makes me think heavily of Metallica. I get the sense it was influenced by them. :D

It's not constructive criticism, i just don't get why would you upload this here

Oh yeah, I have this album. Shit's nice.

I'm an actual artist and even i think this looks great! Not super proportionally accurate, but what you did looks great. :D

Cyborg Axel Kick Asssss

It looks like you had a good time, and that's the important part :) . From a technical standpoint it might not be a masterpiece, but I doubt that was your intent to begin with.

Not even worth for deviantart

The melody 20 seconds in gave me a raging earboner! This is right down my alley man!

that is some weird main lead instrument, I like dat :)

lol at comments below me. if i could challenge someone for a 48 hour challenge or w/e, id probably challenge jredd to make the most cheesiest dance/pop song possible haha

Sweet stuff as per usual. Dig that bass instrument especially, very clear and bumpy, haha.

i fall in love with every one of your songs :)

and dem chords good job guys

that lead gots to be from the jazz master

The piano sounds great in this! Really smooth :D

and here comes mr. clint...oh he just tripped a little ah he's fine

they should play this in the background on C-SPAN whenever a congressmen is closing in on the podium to filibuster

i imagine a big old hairy redneck drinks a bottle of jack, jumps in his four wheel drive, goes off into the woods, mowing down deer and starts falling company owned timber until the sun goes down

Wow circuit, you know me pretty well! Haha

i honestly couldn't tell there were two separate songs haha. im guessing it changes around the 1:30 mark? the feel of the song changes there. they definitely go very well together

The beginning sounds like Rob. He has a specific style to his work.

Nice work to both of you. :D

Wonderful. I love that electric piano sound being used. And the two definitely blend well together. I heard the second one, but the first one i don't think i heard that alone. Either way, it was all arranged nicely to fit in. And the overall sound of the song is very soothing and relaxing. Excellent work. :)

great work, when i was listen, i actually didn't notice that it was two different songs :D

ugh. stop being good. its making me look bad haha

This is sweet! How do you make something 1 bit?

Creepypasta edition. :D

yeah finally another 1 bit track of yours :D escaped my attentio last week, sounds awesome!

The title came from one of my old game ideas that i still want to do one of these days. :P He just made it 1-bit. I may even consider having an fm version of this song made for it somewhere. :D

ugh. stop ruining it for the rest of ussssss

so wild!!! u make 1bit sound like funbit! luv it <333

That's an awesome tune right there.

not many guys manage to make 1bit enjoyable, you do

Wow,... I don't know how you do it!

sick tune dude xD

nice to see you're still rockin da beepola

damn dude. well done. i would not want to fight this boss

that was a huge amount of pressure for an 1bit track, impressive

Oh yes! Mega Man has to pee while wearing a green sweater and does a stomping dance! Classic! :

Man this is awesome! Great work considering the limitations! I've tried to make 1 bit music but it just becomes a mess :3

Pretty interesting.

haha awesome

I really enjoyed that one. You have one higher noise snare in the tune, I would try something more whipping there. That could sound nice.

Well, we needed something to battle Ninja Poop, so that pretty much explains why this was put up here. ;)
(No worries, i love it too :P)

Love it! Not quite as dark as the original soundtrack imo, but still very nice. Shinobi 3 is probably my favorite platformer alongside Mario Bros 2, Hagane and Contra 3. Still playing it on a regular basis.

people are different,
the problem is probably, that I am starting to getting old, so I'm probably getting weird :)

Well, I can definitely hear the influence. Well done.

i am a little mixed about it, i think some of the things in it, sound really great, and some are a little too messy, but overall great :)

Hey... this is an .it file, right? Perhaps I could give it a shot and use SNESMod and convert this to an .spc file for real (although there may or may not be some upper limit pitch violations... the SPC700 can only go up to 128khz, and I can analyze that while playing the song with Schism Tracker or just simply playing a note).

I also forgot to mention i was the one that sent him the samples for this one, which were sent to me by TsuRyu.

Wonderful! I remember this. This is OOOOOOLD! I think this might have actually been on 8bit. Awesome stuff.

woah, that was awesome man

This is some smooth funk! Love it!

Baraka Obama. :3

it also went past my radar :)
nice guitar sound :)

Trying to figure out why i forgot to give this a like. I liked it well enough to listen to it a few times so what the hell? LOL Parts of this song totally make me think of road rash. :D

any chance that you put in a driving double base part somehere close to the end? Ba ba bam, that would be sweet!

I love that dark, wobbly bass at the beginning! So sinister!

I like it! Really neat design! :) Somehow reminds me of something from a dio album.

Those wobbly sounds at the beginning O____O Killer track!

Well, what i said has happened. So i guess you can be the happiest man on earth for a very long time now. ;)

I tried to find a jredd album, but this is what I got http://jredd.bandcamp.com/

i like the bass

I like the basslines in that one :)

beautiful as always :)

Well, that's cool, both the song and being featured in that demo there.

Jredd, if you chart first place with this after that happened, i bet you will be the happiest man in the universe for a long long time. :)

Yeah, that lead is great! Personally I think that crafting vocal sounds and speech is the highest art of FM synthesis. There's nothing more difficult than that!

the flash ... the goddamn flash ... must ... not ... the ... must ... flash ... DAMNIT

This is awesome !

Great work on this Jredd That Lead is Sexy

Really great sound design. That lead is quite impressive concerning the genesis limitation. Achieving that sound is an achievement for sure. And the song itself is really nice, of course. The song to me makes me think of an egyptian football game against robotic mummies with metal bands being the humans' cheerleaders. :D

This so reminds me of Air Buster from the arcades. Kind of the same good feeling about it all, and another thing in common... the bass being a little bit overpowering. :D Besides that, I love this. This is the stuff I'd like to listen in a shoot 'em up. That flanger-like effect at the end pretty much sends shivers down my spine, damn amazing, would've loved more of that.

Ryumbo Max!

jredd still goin strong after all this time.

exactly what Groove says. The ending was pretty nice :)

I enjoyed that a lot. The theme was perfectly set. The only thing I would change would be the main melody instrument. I think it would be sweet if it had a bit more sharpness. Anyways, congratulations for that sweet composition.

Amazing, as always :)

Level Five!. This is one of my favourites from Vector Nova. That classic space shooter sound is perfect but it's that uh oh ending that gets me every time. It's like one of those TV shows where the bad guy is chuckling to himself stroking his cat knowing that he has something evil in store for our hero in the next episode and then the screen fades to black.

Hate to flood this page, but i am just amazed at the production quality and such of this song. Definitely a hardware pusher. :D

I'd love to see this game exist. Just to see something with trev's music in it. His music would make even a Barney The Dinosaur game seem epic and badass! :D

YES i want to play this game so bad Bring VECTOR NOVA to life...ill build a time machine lets go back to the 80s (Hyper Drive)

Very well written as usual Jredd!

Nice, I like the Celtic soundish parts.

Awesome !

Yes! I've been waiting for a solo track from you. This is definitely on par with the theme you've set. I just love this side of melodic music from you, really enjoying this.

Damn, I've been going through so many instruments in little scales .tfi patches to find that lead you used. It's so good! Any hints?

I don't know anything about this kind of music, but I love the rhythm and vibe of this: )

I'm loving this. I am quite impressed with the lead instrument. Very well done sound. :)

Already tried it, it doesn't run so smoothly, but thanks anyways dude :)

See if this works, Culture. http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/

sound great,nice peaceful sounds :)

Damn, I wish VGMM could run on mac. This is awesome man

I had a lot of fun with the basses

The atmosphere is so "smoky". :) Nice and chilled out.

Yeah, don't think too much in to what i said. LOL What i really meant was "I love this! Favorited" but my asleep/half-asleep language is not the same as my awake one. LOL

Googles "Gia Mahan".... then "Marla Sokoloff".. Holy hell.

not realistic enough...But i like it anyways. It has Gia Mahan written all over it. Being that its execution is off the chain. Favorited! :D

I remember your second accepted OCRemix entry two years later with Revolution X. I also started with remixes myself, and software-wise, I was somewhat worse off. Although I had the Playstation 2, I had distribution difficulties, so I ended up starting with a demo version of Harmony Assistant. That didn't work too well, so I bought it. Then I discovered Schism Tracker, and ended up using it ever since roughly 2007. I have the real DS game on my end, so I can relate to this one, and I have just recently return to the very place that I started: VGMix. That's because the site went into an open beta for its newest edition.

Awesome boss! I remember this but i don't know if i ever heard thIs one! :)

I do not wonder why you got them with that track ... you outdid yourself in that medley. That was really good!

http://www.abc.net.au/news/image/3855166-3x2-940x627.jpg :P

Its Me Mario Love this remix (UCollective Whats your favorite mario game??)

Is there any moment when you haven't completely blown my minds?

I think it's in part of the little circlejerk of FM chiptuning we have here of y'all here commenting, Tomy, and me all getting together and liking each other's songs. Anyway, that's cool. It's nice to see y'all and other artists really getting to the FM chiptune scene.

Ok that's Ucollective dominated, now to take over youtube and soundcloud. :-D

Jredd Master of ucollective XD

damn that was supposed 2 be a willy

___ // 7 (_,_/\ \ \ \ \ _\ \__ ( \ ) \___\___/

maybe all she wants is the MEGA D........ *Badumtsh

Wow, I want this shirt

"Back in my day we didn't have no stinky save button, you had record off of a million devices and then upload them all together to the computer and piece one together piece by piece hoping it works. Now you can just say "i'm done" then you're done""

but yeah, that are some good looking breasts

I shall post my wifes boobs in here to, more boobs

where was my like on that one ... anyways, here it is

@Jredd hahaha - Yeah Hardfloor have been my one of my biggest non-chip inspirations over the last 20 years.I learned my programmed randomness and drum programming from them. Of course that cost me a ton of money back in the early 2000 when I just had to own a real TB-303 and TR606. recording tracks in 2005 to a Nokia N-gage. and then later recording extra acid lines with just the 303 playing while i tweaked the sound for a minute or so with no backing track so i could add that section to the base wav file in cubase later on and hope it all worked out. It all sounds totally nuts and it was. Stupid software and trackers ruined that idea though. Now it's all too easy to render to wav. :-D

Otakumode needs Skype with Dropbit Jredd rob and cosmo have a party <3

haha this is great man! Keep this funk thing going!

Can't help but laugh at the timing of our two previous posts. Despite not speaking for awhile we both post at exactly the same time. 'Abnormal composers connected'. Wait that's perfect!!

I remember somebody joked once we were the Daft Punk of Chip. But I'd much prefer to be a 'Chiptune Chemical Brother'. I can totally imagine Jredd sampling his voice with the phrase "brothers gonna 'groove' it out" haha. Can't say I've ever played Pinball Dreams, reckon I'll check out the soundtrack now though.

Do you know "Pinball Dreams" btw.? ... this reminds me somehow of the music of the western styled table

when will you guys come up with a band name? I think it is time for it ...

To The Charts!

lol :P

I like anything that looks like it might be boobs so I LOVE this

сиськи

Damn!!

Always brings a smile to my face listening to this. That little nod to Double Dragon, just felt totally right. The chords in the beginning, which were tweaked from Otaku's original version, were a little nod to a track featured in the awesome game Mercs.

awesome !

omg r u a grill???!

Jredd, the one man song factory

anyone else hear a high pitch during the beginning? great song btw

This is awesome.

JUDGE JDREDD, I AM THE LAW.

Awesome stuff. Lol And calling him Judge Jredd will anger him. :P

Rad stuff, really like the percussion!

is it intended that the main melody that is intruduced right at the beginning has a slighty off background vibe? I think I have to get used to that. Anyways, nice chilled music that is very enjoyable to listen to.

I definitely agree this iscertainly very shenmue-like. As usual, great job. Nice Jazz Chords. :)

Good stuff. I like the drums a lot

Once more, images of the MJQ Jazz Bar in the fictional Dobuita, Yokosuka, Japan comes to mind. Damn, I could go for a drink right now. Anyway, that was very nice, the both of y'all. The drum samples seem new, I notice.

Real talented guy you are. A staple in this community, definitely.

I like the percussions in that one a lot

Damn good, as usual. :) There is a certain one of many reasons why i like this song, but i might scare people if i said(;) at Jredd), so i will keep shut on that. But anyways, i like this real well. Reminds me of X-Men Clone Wars, Batman and Fatal Fury rolled in to one. I also love the emotion in it too, so awesome job. :)

Dude Dont Underestimate Jredd Hes A Beast I Seen How Fast He Works And The Quality Of Is Work Is On A Nother Level crazy Talent

Damn Good

how can you release new song each week?

This is good stuff ! Do I hear sampled dist-guitar there ?

So Damn Good

Hahah sweet although knowing my luck I'd be half way through the interview and somebody would shout me. Something silly like "want a cup of tea love"... Or even better "would you stop playing with that radio of yours, I'm trying to get to sleep". it would be totally ironic and yet i see it happening to me for sure.

Awesome news man, sorry I couldn't make it. I've only just got in. Still I always had you down as the spokesman for the band. I'm just the guy with the glue, helping out and sticking all our ideas together so it all works hehe. :-D

Weeky Weeky Groove <puts on a Cool Look> ha ha ha

Wonderful sutff, as usual. Jredd is known for that kind of stuff. :)

microdancepartyinmyroom.jpg this is so fucking GREAT

Apologies for the bad grammar, Blame my damn Ipad.

Yep I love this, one of those tracks where everything came together so well despite the fact that originally this was two songs one Jredd and Robs idea and the other a solo effort from myself. Through me adding some ideas to their parts and vice versa. We made it all gel together Amazingly well,. If I do say so myself. It's tracks like this that make me love the pure magic that is music.

Yes, I love the feel of this one. That bassline solo in the 2nd part is just such a killer and adds so much charm to the song, done right as usual. Amazing!

this is very danceable so good job xD really got that trance vibe down

Hey look Gas powered ep

You're signed in as Groovemaster303?

That bassline is just so your style, haha. The synth lead is nice, and with the melancholic melody it really fits here. The breakdown is awesome, it's really hard to make any soft/soothing pads in FM. I think a new melody after the breakdown would have been cool, but no worries, this works too.

Superb sound production using FM and a very good track overall. Nice work dude.

Dunno if the drums in VGMM really fit into the dancefloor, but that was a nice go for such kind of track

Hey Jredd... have you heard of Battle of the Bits? If this were a real .vgm file, I have a feeling it would do excellent over there for either Winter Chip or Summer Chip.

That's cool. I liked the slow strings especially in the background. Man, I gotta feel bad for poor ol' Will Smith, though. Everyone is always firin' at him because they've been ordered to "fire at will". Thug life. Anyway, good as usual.

This is pretty good in my opinion. It's got a nice beat and flow to it. It also reminds me of Metal Sonic's theme from Sonic 4 part 2. :P

Oh, I must have heard it from the portable sampler then. I thought I had recognized it. Still, that's interesting about the vocals. Thanks to the both of y'all.

I like how that one flows, sweet chilled music. The percussions are a joy to listen to

Funny you should say that, an early version of this song did have some light vocals. Also if I remember right, I included a small snippet of this song on the FM portable sampler last year. Chances are you may have heard it on there. Thanks for the great feedback .

Oh yeah, I remember this one, at least I think. I swear I've heard this one before. Well, regardless, I liked it back then and I still like it now. I feel like the beat could also be used to accompany a slow rap.

haha solid Chip N Bass i love it oh im gonna have to chat with you asap jredd

Oh, and speaking of the 2600, I think I recall Little-Scale once being able to control the sound capabilities with a MIDI keyboard, only to discover that the 2600 itself is pretty badly tuned.

Oh yeah, it's been a while since I've heard any Beepola stuff. Nice.

Nicely Done! :D

when I think about it, it would have been amazing if such kind of music was on my atari 2600

it's byootiful :]

is this on the genesis chip?

genius.. pure and simple ...breakdown at 2:15 is just ahhhhhhhhh!

Diggin that 2/4 5/8 alternation :D

nice athmosphere

Yes to damn good i agree with Doixic on this one ;)

we should just give the charts to jredd

I love it, it has a sense of dread the entire way through, like you are on a suicide mission into the heart of hell! :D

Very shmupy indeed !

Great track :) Reminds me a little of Coda's music, which is always a good thing

This is really good stuff ! (though I would love to hear some less crushed samples :P)

Yay!!! More Ska/Reggae style please... its one of my favorite genres!

that would be the perfect music for an ice level in a game

No comment... I've run out of ways to praise your work haha.Ok how about this...You are now on my chiptune legends list :-)

always sewww gud

This song was realy fun to work with had a blast with Jreed and Groovemaster303<3

Happy birthday. Anyway, y'all did great. The guitar in particular reminded me of Howard Drossin's work on the Genesis.

Happy birthday and a great way to celebrate!

great work guys <3 , and Happy-B Jredd. :) and also Happy-B with Yesterday person :)

Great work everybody! And happy B-day Jredd!

YESSSSS MY Vision came alive We Winnnnnnnnnn <3

Happy birthday! My birthday was yesterday.

You do know at some point i'm going to upload that dodgy wallpaper of us hahaha. Seriously though this was great fun to work on. VGM Music Maker is one of the best trackers ever released in my eyes.

What a blast we had with this one, i think we ended up on fire, Talk about freshly baked.... we only finished this about an hour ago hahaha. Sorry Dropbit we got a little carried away when you left. :-)

Calling. You two will become the Daft Punk of chiptune.

@Jredd It's true I already listened to it on soundcloud, maybe you should consider posting different tracks on soundcloud than on ucollective?

also i believe you have to play throught the whole song for it to count as a play..

waaaayyyyyyy more favorites than plays

This is really fun!

great stuff :) one little thing, the sound that come at 00.58 is very loud compared to the rest

Pretty awesome tune.

Yes Yes YESssssssss

somehow i missed this one, was to buys with work. Nice work with the weird wobbly sounds, make it sound really alien.

Don't know if anyone else wants it but you can get the VGM here which actually sounds a touch better as the PSG is a tad louder. http://www2.zshare.ma/bxh5uji47h3k

Greatest battle melody I've heard in times!

And again it's incredible.

Now that's a thought I forgot all about that once we got on a roll with this.

Good Yob Guys

I find it so funny that i have no desire in the world to listen to rock music in either chiptune or real format and yet i've had so much fun creating tracks like this, Megaforce, Burning Surge and Rewind. @Wheely: Volt City eh? hmmm I think it's possible that a return to my vintage Koshiro-Groove style could happen sooner rather than later. Volt City was our first collab and one of our best too. At the time I was coming off Streets Of Rage Remake and i just wanted to get away from that type of music which is ironic considering Volt City is probably one of my best FM Koshiro-ish tracks. Still some time has passed and i've enjoyed trying many different styles with FM including this track. So yeah a Volt City follow up seems like a good idea.

Oh man, this is awesome. Starting out 2013 right!

You're doing some serious ass kicking here, Jredd! Awesome

Great I love how the music varies

Lol >w</!!

Nice track dudes, love how it flows. Will you make a track like "Volt City" in future? I loved that one a lot :)

Yay I can comment now! I get a sense of impending doom like something very large and scary is after me and I gotta run away from it! XD I love how the tune changes at 1:00 in to give the hero a sense of hope, it's so cool!! >w<

What's this a bad ending?. Surely our heroes don't all die... it's 2013 for crying out loud, I demand closure, answers and some cupcakes. :-D

Yay First Comment and this is a hit i feel like im running away from death Like the Silver Surfer Game But More Sega haha Btw Jredd Im tring to contact you for some big future projects whats the best way to get ahold of you?Email?

A big thank you to everone who liked. I'm happy as larry with 2nd place this week.

AAAAAUUUH FREAKING AWESOME BRO!!! HEY DO YOU HAVE SOUNDCLOUD?

Warning!... Warning!... Abnormal Composers Detected!. :-)

this is really cool man , what do you make you tunes on by the way ? and have you tried out DefleMask ?

I really like that a lot, you have a drone sound going on through the tune ... what about putting some attack and release to it, could sound nice

Thanks guys. Indeed Jesper Kyd was a big influence on this track. Red Zone has some killer sound design and we wanted to doing something a little like that but put our own little spin on it. I'm really pleased with the way this turned out.

thanks for making my morning great, I think some of it, reminded me of some of my old Trance records :D

sounds more like a puzzle boss to me, like if the collosi were mechanical

Reminds me lot of Jesper Kyd (Red Zone and Sub Terrania particular)

sweet cover, I like that. If I may give some CC, I would work on the mixing, cannot hear much from the bass, because the drums are too loud in my opinion. I would also do something with the background noise, because it is scratching in the background and could be more crisp and dominant

And it only took you 6 months to upload it! =)

i know that feeling all too well XD

self portrait? lol

i feel it bro

Judge dREDD

This is to damn sexy

It is one of my most fav tunes in that game !\

Hi jreed good to hear some fm-music from you again ;-D

The great Jredd sounds I love !

TRON badd ass!

its a character off Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica named Kyuubei probly where Kubbi got his name lmaooo <3 i just copyed and pasted him i didnt make it :(

ermmm coff coff i new that

Fuck it JREDD is getting a new Logo because i love him

I enjoyed listening to this. I'm going to listen to it again.

I Need You On My I Pod <3

This is very, very solid. Very nice song. Great work, indeed.

sir would you be so kind to mabye have a DL link...slap this on a EP i would buy it<3

That was so damn sexy

This is sooooooo damn good dude, I gotta remix this in Reason. Limitless (Sega CD mix) Oh yeah!!

Btw, I've noticed you mentioning "VGMM" for a few times by now, and my terrible memory for abbreviations is like "huh, that's a familiar combination of letters, but what the fuck is it?" Google stays silent

i think im in love with you :O <3 ㅋㅋㅋ

You Sir, Are Somthing Else

you put so much details in there. Like the tune a lot, must listen more deeply into it. Thanks for that wonderful piece

As long as there is people to enjoy it all is fine. FM can do the best wubs, nothings can match them !

wub sounds ruined it for me

very very nice !

Btw some of the sound, was crazy in the good way, especially at the end

/人◕‿‿◕人\

Rad as always. I love the basses you're getting out of the Genesis.

I take everything back :P

hey, you stole my charts position because of your self like :D

Jredd making a touhou cover wat hahaha sick

There's certainly some cool Touhou songs out there but I usually like the covers more then the originals for some reason (this is no excpetion :D). I guess it's that the originals often sound very random instrument-wise to me :/ This is one of my favourite Touhou arrangements btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-cpxRwjfgs I like what you did with Bad Apple. Well done mate!

got me with the first note ... makes me wanna play!

Dat melody. HNNG. THIS IS SO GOOD!!

nice percussions sounds you have here

Good to hear someone using FM sounds. This is a nice piece of music, I like the melodies.

give me your knowledge

This is one of my favorite tracks!

That is a pretty cool track !

That is some very lovely stuff !

Now that I've heard the 3 of your FM only, this is my favourite. From the beginning it's like Halo 1 music. :D Like ambient hip-hop, I don't know, but I like it! That ambient pad really is great and the drums fit with the atmosphere so well. Btw, I got your message and sent a response to your hotmail, but I'm not sure if it came through?

Really feeling how chill this is. Good work as always!

Nice track! I love the interaction between the instruments...

You already know how I feel about this one ^^

haha, that bass line hilariously funky. This is awesome. Nice work man!

sound great, what a wicked bass line

My favourite chiptune to come out in a while! So lovely, I'd love to be able write VGM

fuck YEAH!

This is so gooooood!

Yes! You uploaded this from the demo, my favourite from it. Great synth leads. The main part is really special, and that noisy background hihat(?) fits so well there. :) Melodies are, once again, fantastic.

An awesome level theme which really helps set the mood and tone of the album. Very catchy and fun to listen to. I liked this mix so much I just had to start work on a remix which ended up being one of the toughest, yet most satisfying mixes we have ever done.

nice choon :D

I love the change after around a minute, that was what I was waiting for ... sweet stuff dude, very uplifting

really great. reminds me of some of shit from Mystic Quest

man gotta love that half time break in there

Jredd as always is too legit.

So today I decided to crawl through the new shiny and glossy ubc and I did not reget my descition. A lot of cool tracks online and this is no exeption. I love you VGMM stuff dude, would you do some fast metal in it for me? :)

Fantastic J! I love how mellow this feels, like a beautiful forrest glade covered in mist (haha, that sounds a little pretentious but whatever). Really like the guitar chords btw. 1

still remember 1 bit city and 1 bit pirat from 8bc

mystery sound :D really good man, you amazing composer, you know it

This site sometimes surprises me

It works like this: Currently, the top submissions are chosen by the most number of favourites and if the site was submitted last week. In the new site the top submissions are chosen by the number of likes in the past week on submissions. I've changed it so that top submission places won't change after the week has passed. At the moment, if you add two favourites to a 2nd place submission which has 30 favourites, as it was submitted last week and ordered by the number of favourites, it would become first place. Sorry for the messing around. Only a few days until the new site is up anyway...

It's gotten 1st place in both the current version and the new one, as far as my browser shows. I'll give that link to Sam, see what he says

It's actually 1st place, Jredd

Pretty cool, why can't I see an album link? You've released quite a few cool things.

Only thing I'd like to mention is that the track seems to be a bit off to the left channel, maybe I'm having hallucinations again, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Wow. That's unbelievably awesome. Great drums, great overall mastering. Is that a real electric guitar I am hearing in the left channel? I'm not sure if me and fuxter will be able to beat that awesomeness in the coming weeks, but we'll try to :)

It's so... groovy. Haha. Such a good feeling too. The ending is fantastic!

that might be my new fav by you guys :)

Overall i'm really pleased with the outcome. We all have a great understanding of each others abilities and we complement each other really well. Thanks for the great feedback everyone.

I was tempted to boost the drums a but due to the track having many different layers, I felt rather than have the drums being totally dominant it would be better to let the melodies shine.

very cool, gents. a great track, indeed.

What a wonderful piece of music ^_^

really great FM track Jredd, which FM tracker do you use. could use a little more power on the drums.

This is fantastic. Somehow reminds me of Goblin, a progressive rock band. Really really appreciate the highly melodic approach. The pitchbended basslines at the end are killer, I love it!

Yeah, the track from 2:10 is clearly my favourite from this preview. Very cool to hear something so easy-going and sweet. The track after that is pretty nice too. Is the release shaping up?

Damn this is nice! I need to mingle with VGMM one day.

this is the sweetness! very nice work, jredd!

Reminds me of Comix Zone for genesis! very nice

that lead is so slick

I do like this one quite a bit :D Keep it up guys, you are awesome!

I get neither, so I don't know :D

Don't worry, mate, it's not too much of an issue. I know it's a hard task to undertake, once your number of instruments exceeds 6, and drums are like 3 instruments in one. I just tend to make the rhythmic section and bass a bit louder than leads, but you do it the way you like, you're much more of a specialist than I am anyway :)

Awesome. I'd make the hihat and cymbals louder though

this was like a wall of power all the way through

OH GAWD YES!

I must say that I like the "voice" you use, reminds me of the voice in F-zero,hehe. I think you used it a little too much here and there maybe, idk. @Chypnotic: Sorry for spelling your name wrong, I just keep reading it as "Chiptonic" for some reason XD

I enjoyed your new album Jredd,... but I think I would like it better without the vocal sample at the beginning of each track,... just my opinion!

Sorry for hi-jacking this upload Jredd :S @Chyptonic: Some good things might come pretty soon ;) Thank's for the support!

magic :)

You need to put some more songs up also PolarBirds. More songs like: No Rain For You! Planet Magpie Rainbow Blade (arranged ver) and particularly XBYA I'll be looking for your uploads!

I remeber this one! It should be double the length and I'd be perfectly happy! I also agree with Chypnotic, make more stuff like Sleeping Rain Forest! I have had it on my playlist for a long time and it was the first thing I ever downloaded by you :) Cheers

You're the best Jredd. I wish you would make a few more tracks similar to: Moonlit Myst and Sleeping Rain Forest though!

Forgot to favourite this one, sorry :)

Yes, it shall be 8-bit funeral doom for the masses o_O

Hell yeah :D This inspired me to finally make a piece with really deep growling and pig squealing

that could be a nice part of a whole song man ... do something with it!

I like this a lot!

In 20 years making music with a DS will be super hip.

Great, as always :) Moving

Reminds me of Peter Joseph's marimba tune from the end of the first zeitgeist film hahaha

oh, that will be fun, looking forward to that

Awesome, Jredd, as always.

Oh Jredd u never disappoint really nice stuuf

I love the sound of the DS 10. Very well done.

I like how the song changed up a few times. I especially enjoyed the melodic bit just before 1/2.

I can't wait for the second album :3 this is amazing, man.

Jredd is here :D

dude it's beautiful :_S

Oh wow, you had some nice drum fill there where the bass followed (between the first and second fifth of the song) - MAKE SOME DUBSTEP, you would be awesome at it :D But this song is great, don't sell out to the wubz just yet ;) (contradictions I know)

really like the keychange at 1/3 ... sweet tune :)

Yeeeees! Very nice

This just reminds me of that crazy video you made with your drumming to this song where you dressed like Zangief. That was the best thing ever, and this song is pretty fantastic.

I'd love to play a game with music like this in it. Thanks for sharing :).

NewSan (2A03) by kidThunder

Not bad :D.

Diggin' it man. This was a great entry :).

That was super interesting man. I'll have to share this one around when that release hits :).

That was interesting man, cool sounds in this one. I don't know what it was about it, but maybe something about the shuffle or the beat made me think of one of those really well animated old timey cartoons. I imagined like a 1930's style Betty Boop style cartoon with like their time period's interpretation of a robot being extremely happy and doing weird household chores and going berserk while the humans in the house are taking a nap and being lazy LOL!

Cool!

I like it :).
unfinished VGM track by JeMappelle

Wait a second....you pulled this off in VGM Maker? Some heavy use of the sample channel there buddy. Color me impressed. :). I don't know if you plan on working with the tracker some more, but if you do I'd love to collaborate sometime man :).

Light Up by herelookthesky

Hey, not bad man! It's got good melody, sound design is decent, and then just went it starts to feel a bit repetitive that nice breakdown comes to offer a nice change up :D. If you'd like I have a few simple suggestions that might help you out on future tunes. First, when you've got only one of the pulse channels playing you can always use the other pulse channel to mirror the melody and offset the pitch just a tad to create a nice de-tune effect. Or, you can take the melody from the first channel and set it on the second one but a few steps behind at a lower volume to create an echo effect. Another interesting thing to try with backing parts is panning from side to side to give it a more full sound :). To add a bit more expression to your notes, try a bit of vibrato on the tail end of longer notes to make your leads more interesting, and finally the breakdown was a neat idea but to have it go silent like that might make people with a short attention span click away. A nice noise channel crash could have been there followed by a rising noise channel and that could have been in the background like 8 bit waves crashing on a sea shore, then it could have morphed into a slow half time beat and then ending it on your original beat in the end like you did :). To sum it up, your song is good and I easily slapped a like on it but I think maybe the little things I mentioned might add up to make your next tunes even better if you keep them in mind. I know you didn't ask for CC, but I felt like giving it and felt you showed real potential and I wanted to help :). I hope I come off kind and my review wasn't too harsh man. Keep up the good work, I look forward to more from you :).

That's cool sounding dude :D. If you ever feel like sampling a Jredd track go right ahead. I'd love to see what you turn it into ha ha.
Weird One by Xrott

The intro is a little weird but I like it :P. The main beat works, but I am not sure if it changes quite enough. You're getting there with variation though. You might try adding a deeper bass once you get past the intro. I'd also like to see you change the chords around a bit after the minute mark to keep things fresh. Overall this has a nice sound but I think filling out the low end with a smooth bass, varring up your chords to play different notes after a while, and maybe focusing on a stronger top melody will take this song from being just good to great! Best of luck on future projects. If you have more questions on how to improve let me know and I'll see if I can explain better :).

Ha ha nice!

Looking back by Volt44

This is a great track, and I appreciate the vocals of someone who can really sing as opposed to a lot of others who will stick auto tune on a chip track ;). You have a unique sound and I think it's a shame that nobody commented on this.

Yes! Sweet Ninja Rave Party!
DirtFace by pr4nq

Ha ha ha, we got second. Congrats! :P

It's got kind of a ninja turtles rock vibe mixed with your usual funk style. Pretty bad ass sir :D.

Indeed, I enjoy the hell out of working with this guy :D.

Can* Bah, I give up. Good song anyway :P

I cam kind of see* I mean, stupid typos :P.

Ha ha ha I can kind of seem the spider-man sitcom vibe oddly enough. However, because of the sound of nanoloop I get more of a late 60's to mid 70's vibe. It's got that "Early electronic music" vibe to it like something by kraftwerk. All it needs are some vocoder lyrics ha ha. Hell I'd watch it ha ha.

Just call it an under clocked Game Gear mod ha ha ha.

This is a beautifully emulated Sega Master System sound on Korg DS-10. I gotta get back to making things on my DS. It's been far too long ha ha.

Ahhhh, it got me right at the 1 minute mark. I was like, hey this is pretty goo- ..Ooooooo! And then that hyper solo happens. Yeaaahhhh! Ha ha ha.

Well, what can I say man? I'm honored. I'm glad we had an impact on your music. The beautiful thing about music is that you can take things that you've heard and give nods to others who inspire you while maintaining your own style. I think it is easy to see that you are certainly a great musician in your own right and should be proud of your work here. I can't wait to hear what comes from you next. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open in anticipation. Phenomenal work my friend. :)

This is cool, it sounds like famitracker with some expansion chip yet it's got stereo. What did you use to make it? :)
your sunlit smile by azuriasky

This is very pretty, if I had one preference it would be that the chip drums have a bit more variation in them. However, I think the wonderful melodies and harmonies more than make up for this. Good job, I can easily see why this charted :).

Stormsong by VCMG

This is fantastic :). I've said it before and I'll say it again. You're probably one of my favorite LSDJ artists, I always look forward to new things from you :).

Hmmm, you might try DJcutman for mastering if you can get a hold of him or if he wants to do it. This sounds solid though, I wouldn't worry about it :).

Hmm...interesting atmosphere.

Yeah! LOL!

My guess is the snare samples used might either be at a couple different volumes in the sample channel and/or there's a nice drum roll sample used at a slightly lower volume to give dynamics in the percussion :). It isn't used very often in genesis games but can be pulled off in VGMM. I work together with many people, but sometimes those very people come back and post something that feels like in many ways exceeds my own music and inspires me to be better. That is one of the true joys of working with people. To have them go from the supposed "novice" to the guys teaching me a thing or two :). It's wonderful to see the growth and talent in Sega Genesis music taking place and I feel privileged to watch it happen :).

*Shifty eyes* (Steals all the toilet paper) Naw, this is really good dude. Perfect title :D.

Ha ha that was fun :).

Ha ha this is so good you guys :D. I'm inspired :).

Very nice attempt, you could make a robust one with dual mode :). On these headphones I had to chuckle a little because it sounds a little like you used Sonic's Death sound for a base so I just imagined Axel in the first level continually killing Sonic The Hedgehog LOL! But I'm just messin' with ya. Here's a like to show I'm genuinely impressed. Well done :P.

Rad sound design. There are just a couple of notes in there I would tweak but I have noticed that to put a few odd notes here and there is often your style so I am guessing it is intentional :P. Anyhow I love the sound design and like 99 percent of the melodies so I can't complain. :P Nice job once again :).

I like this tune, but I have a few ideas to spice it up a little. Do you mind if I take this melody and do a Sega Genesis remix of it? I think that might be fun :).

Hey, I remember you. Good to see you posting again. Well, if you have a lot of little ideas maybe you could try this. Go through some of them and see if you can combine them with a little tweaking or an interesting transition. If you take say 3 or 4 different 15 second ideas, maybe double the length of them, tweak them to fit together with some drum fills or have sections that combine 2 or more ideas for a small amount of time you might find that some of these smaller ideas can actually go together and form bigger songs that are not only longer but progressive as well. Maybe that will solve your repetition habit :). Even if it's 2 15 second snippets that you expand to a minute or so each and have a transition between the 2 that means your song now has an A and B section. Give it a try :). I think it's worth a shot. I've had some of my best music come out by combining unlikely ideas together :).

Excellent as usual :).
Gabberdwaggy by Tilde

That was real interesting. I think the bass would have been overbearing had it not been for the strings and guitar being as neat sounding as they were. It also helps that the kick hit notes at times that made for a nice bass instrument that actually harmonized with the song. I think this is an interesting song and though I wouldn't listen to it all the time, it was intriguing to me and I did enjoy it :).

Sounds pretty good man, I like the way you made that arpeggio instrument.

Ha ha I like the way you arranged it :).

You are an interesting man :D.

It was super cool of you to make this. Thanks a ton, it means a lot :).

Ha ha interesting as always :).

Whoa, this is nuts.

Wait a second, isn't this a song by The Cure? I am not a huge fan of them or anything but this melody rings a bell. Well, it sounds cool whatever it is :).

Ha ha not bad! :D Whatever a bacon butty is, I think I want one if it helps you to compose this well :). Also I just recently got back into famitracker. Check out my latest tune here when you get a chance :).

Wow, sounds like you've got a real hit in the making there :).

Hate is a very strong word, I think I just found your CC to be very blunt. However, looking at the quality of your work and the time you put into your pixel art I guess I can see why you were so disappointed with some of us. You certainly have the skill to back up your critiques. Now I am terrified to post anything in the images section LOL.
Glitchdows 95 by lxtxcx

This makes me laugh more than it should.

Weird, this sounds a bit like Sakura's Theme from Street Fighter Alpha 2. Not exactly mind you, but enough for me to be reminded of it ha ha.

Muahaha! This came out so good dude! That was so much fun :D.

Sounds kind of like Anamanaguchi or something :P. As for CC, I know it's rough but I think if you double up on your guitars like have a slightly different tone on a second layer and pan one slightly right and the other slightly left it'll give it a richer sound. Also, when you get to your final version, I think throwing in some tom drums for fill in's is a good idea. Snare rolls, maybe a half time section with a ride cymbal? Yeah just throwing things out there since it's rough. Not bad though, the general idea is there and it's good :).

Tarrasque by BrokenBit

Rad! I think you and Wheely should collaborate on something. I'd like to hear that :).
Rainbow Blade (VRC6) by PolarBirds

This doesn't sound bad at all :D. Yeah, the key is usually to have everything else at a low volume so that you make sure the drums cut through the mix. One thing that can help a little is a Z command to boost the volume a little and a noise snare hitting at the same time as the sampled one to give it more punch over all. You can also do some post production on things if you wish. I gotta say though, for someone who doesn't think he's got much experience with the tracker you sound pretty rad with it. Keep it up :).

Well, it doesn't sound like a chip tune but it does sound interesting :D.

Odessa by ernieshmitz

Lol cool :D.

How does this compare to the one on cart that came out a while back in Japan? Am I to understand it has more polyphony?

LOL! It's beautiful :P.

I can see your point, but I can't help but think it's possible to get the same points across while still keeping someone's dignity intact. I've seen him be helpful on certain things in a way, but I just usually just see him point out what's wrong and I don't know how often he offers suggestions to improve. That's like finding someone with a broken down car on the road and saying, "Your engine is dead..." and then walking away. He pointed out a problem, but it doesn't really help. If someone is going to point out everything wrong and tear me a new one, the least they could do is offer alternatives to give me something to try next time so that I improve. Tell me something though, would you rather someone call your music shit and walk off? Or, encourage you for uploading, offer a few suggestions with tact along with an explanation of techniques to try next time so that you improve, and then end on an encouraging note like telling them you hope to see them upload again, and if they have any questions to feel free to ask. That is how to be helpful. Look at the words constructive criticism. To construct means to build does it not? Note that this word is before criticizing and so takes priority. So to me, it is that you are pointing out things that can be improved but doing so in a way that makes them feel like it's a goal they can attain, making them want to try again, and most importantly develop a passion for what they are doing so that they make their own strides in improvement simply due to the enthusiasm. Most people can point out something wrong and walk away, but it takes real dedication and warmth to teach effectively. If you don't have those things going into it you may have some improvement but it'll be out of spite and they'll most likely feel the things you have said. "That guy's an asshole, I'll show him." It might work for short bursts, but in the long run if that's the only experience you had would you develop a love for your craft? Could you be passionate about what you're doing and help others come along the same way? It may come about by some fluke, but more often than not it leads to frustration and people either giving up, or going a completely opposite way just to spite the asshole :P. I'm not saying lxtxcx doesn't have knowledge or experience to back up his words, but what good is it unless you present it in a way that makes people want to listen to it? That's my point. He may have all the knowledge in the world, but if you put it so harshly that it pisses people off and you don't see much change in people, maybe you should consider adapting your approach. Everyone learns differently, some may flourish from the "Drill Sargent" method, but most people thrive better under less hostile conditions. There's a big difference between telling someone what's wrong, and teaching them to do it right. That's what I am trying to say, and the whole point about he knows when people are trying or not? That's according to his standards. It is not taking into account how much or how little experience someone has. So he just assumes because someone is bad at it, they are being a "troll" and need to be taught a lesson. I've heard plenty of people start off as "shit" and become decent or even great due to continued positive reinforcement. I'm a firm believer in this, not only does it cultivate better results but I feel better as a person for doing it this way. Maybe because of my own experiences I am more empathetic than most, but when I take this stand I feel completely justified almost to the point of standing up to a bully. There's a better way to teach, and I hope people learn it or else we're going to have a lot of pissed off musicians and artist on here :P.

I think there is a right and a wrong way to go about constructive critique. Is your goal to show off how much you think you know about what should be accepted and drive people away because they aren't good enough? Or do you actually want people to continue to post, improve and thrive? Well, I don't think going around pointing out everything wrong with no tact does a whole lot of good. People are timid enough as it is knowing that the internet is full of assholes that just love to stroke their egos and put people down. The people I grew from the most as a musician were the people that took an interest in my musical development. The ones that made a point to encourage when I did something well, and handle with tact where I could be improved. I imagine the same things can be applied to art. I find that it is much more rewarding and successful to be a caring mentor than a standoff-ish know it all. If only pixel art can be accepted, then by that logic only chip music by itself and created within the limits of a retro game console should be accepted. I respect and admire a purist route but I don't think it's the only way to pay tribute to a retro aesthetic that all of us here obviously hold dear. You can state your opinions however you like, but it might be a good idea to take tact into consideration if you want to see results and/or change in the quality of the image section. Have a listen to most good musicians and I am pretty sure the best ones were nurtured rather than nitpicked. Well, that's my 2 cents take it how you like. I'm willing to put the quality of my music on the line as proof of my point, while acknowledging that I can always improve and that others can be just as good or better than I am. That said, I didn't get to my current level with tactless nitpicking, I got it through the support of people who I could tell had a passion for music and wanted to help me grow. I intend to pass that method along, and anytime I see things counter-productive to that I cringe and feel the need to speak up. Again, in the end do what you want but I feel completely justified in stating my case. I hope it makes some sort of impact.

The title is horrible, but the music is actually pretty good. Somehow it's a winning combination LOL!

LOL you win.
Once (VRC7 Jazz/Funk) by Weirdbananas

awww yeeeaaaahhhhh!
modx2boosted by Xrott

Nice attempt for a first tune :). Not bad at all. As far as being appropriate for this place, as long as you have something that sounds like it reasonably incorporates some "8bit-ish sounds" as you put it, it can be accepted here. You may get a few purists that could give you a bit of a hard time calling this fake bit and whatnot but pay it no mind. There are plenty around here who use stuff like reason or FL studio to create a retro sound around here so you're fine :). As for CC on the music itself, I pretty much agree with Ikasam :). It sounds good but I think after a while that high synth could benefit from a bit more variation :). But yeah, I've heard much worse first songs, and some of those artists turn out rad eventually :). So, my best advice is to listen to an absorb as much music as you can (Chip or otherwise) The more variation the better. When you aren't doing that continue writing little ideas :). I would say the best way to improve as a musician would be to listen to as much as you can, and make as much as you can. That way you are always taking in knowledge and seeing what happens when you apply it to your own music. Before long ideas will combine, and your own sound will continue to evolve until you've got something truly unique. You're already not bad :). I look forward to seeing how you'll develop. One thing new comers should know about posting music here is that we can only post music to the main front page once every week. It cuts down on one person spamming the front page and so every person can spend a decent amount of time on what they want to be there for people to readily see. You can upload new music at any time, but it will only appear on the front page if you wait a week between each post. Well, I hope that helps man. Keep at it, with a few more songs under your belt I have a feeling you might turn out quite good in no time :). Have a listen to some other songs around here in the meantime and see if anything jumps out to inspire you. See you with a new tune in a week I hope. Welcome man :D.

Pretty cool.

Ha ha that's kinda cool :).

Ha ha cool, pretty nice melody in here. I wouldn't count famitracker out just yet :). The triangle channel can make nice kick and tom sounds if you use pitch slides a certain way, also don't forget the DPCM channel which can be used for samples :). This is very classic sounding, I look forward to what you're doing now with LSDJ :). Although, like I said not only are there ways to make a better kick in famitracker, there are also tons of expansion chips to explore. I wouldn't abandon it completely :D.

Ha ha, it feels like I am going on an adventure to obtain a mystical item to aid me in my quest to slay a dragon. I love it ha ha.

Ha ha it's not too bad man. It's a first song, keep at it you'll keep getting better. Kodus for having the courage to post it even though you are just starting out. Is that famitracker? Ha ha this one came out cool. I helped with the drums a little and my solo starts at about 1:14. We altered the shuffle and speed a bit and so Rob helped a bit with the timing of a few notes. Lone's a hell of a composer in his own right. I think we made a good team :).

Rad, a new VGM MM user :D. Pretty damn cool for a first try. You're going to get really good. I can already tell. Your experience in other trackers helps. when I tried TFM the learning curve was steeper because it was my first tracker that I had really tried much :). I used to sample FM from it, and then finally started tracking with it myself but that was back in 2008 LOL. It eventually became VGMMN 2011 and by that time I was pretty good so me, Groovemaster303, and Cosmo Buggi made an album LOL. Yeah for me making instruments is all about experimenting even now, so I'd just take it as half the fun. I am a bit busy with a project now but once it's done it'd be cool to work together on something sometime. Keep it up! :)

SpaceCycle (fakebit) by UncleBibby

Interesting, I like the chords and the bass, the simple beat also works. There are times when that lead hits a sweet spot, and other times when it just seems the slightest bit off. I do appreciate that it sounds played live though. You don't hear a lot of that in chip music and I commend you. However, next time you might go back and double check a few notes and see how well they harmonize with your chords, or adjust the timing of when notes hit to help the flow. If you threw a slow trailing echo on that lead and maybe threw some crashing noise channel work or maybe some kind of backing shimmery bell synth to play at key points I think this could border on Crono Trigger territory :). Those are just some thoughts I had, I do like it in general though. I hope that I was helpful. :)

I think solar man fused with metal man. That was a fun one :).

I love your style dude :D.

What if you played a game where it was just like flashing seizure time change. You speed so fast you zoom into the future. LOL

Ha ha rad, yours is much more faithful to the original remix than mine is :P. I took the basic idea and did something weird to it LOL. Mine is more of a remix or arrangement loosely based on the original because my friend wanted me to make it and I lacked familiarity with it and kind of winged it. I twisted it to my own style, and for better or worse it is very different from this one :). Yours is great, I suspect my friend may have wanted the remix to sound more like this but she liked mine all the same :P, I also made mine in VGM Music Maker but it's a bit faster, has a shuffle to it and I even threw in some dubstep LOL. Feel free to check it out and see what you think. http://ucollective.org/audio/Jredd/bad+apple+sega+remix/

Two Gameboys, 30 minutes by SkipSandwichDX

30 minutes? Impressive :)

Ha ha that bass. This sounds like what would happen if after defeating Sigma, everyone in the world of Mega Man X decided to throw a party. Someone should tell Mega Man to lay off the spiked punch :D.

Jeez man, holy crap. The amount of work you must have put into this... That's pure 2A03 with no expansion chips isn't it? I bow to you sir, I'm alright with famitracker but this is on a whole other level.
MASCULINE TO THE MAX!!! by Weirdbananas

I am a member there at FM synthesis, just not active yet LOL
Galaxy Madness by kidThunder

Ha ha, this is pretty cool. Sounds a bit like super aleste ha ha.

Ha 1986 is the year I was born man :D. Something fills me awe considering that you've got FM music from when I was tiny. It's like I have a long legacy of chip musicians to look to for my own inspiration and I only hope I am worthy to carry the torch :). I can't help put a like on that one :). It's because of pioneers like you that I eventually became inspired to make chip music myself. I really look up to the people who have been doing this a lot longer than I have. It's great to have a place where chip musicians from different generations can come together and learn from each other. Maybe I'll get inspired and dig up some old stuff myself :).

I try :P
Ice Locker by Tilde

You have nicely captured a very classic video game music compositional style. It's kind of a shame that more people don't seem to be appreciating this, but I sure do. Strong melodies that tell a story are what I really admire in a chip composition. Keep up the good work man :).
INFRARED by Pixeltune

Sounds pretty rad, and I am usually not a big LSDJ house fan. But this is well made :).
Homely by TapeState

Naw, in the end your song is how you want it and how it sounds to you. If it doesn't sound right to you then by all means keep it how it is. I've been doing so many collaborations that I think my tweaking instincts kicked in again :P.
Like a Commodore by Bananablob

Not bad :).

Hey man, if you're looking for an album by me check out noise channel.org and have a listen to Vector Nova if you haven't already :P. LOL and I love Dropbit's comment ha ha.
Homely by TapeState

This song has great sound design and I really like it overall :). I think those intro arpeggios could sound a little better if a couple of the chords were minor instead of major. But that's a very small nit pic. I think it just might blend with the melody a tiny bit better if The C sharp major and B major chords were flipped minor. But again, that's a minor nit pic, (No pun intended) If you want me to type out individual notes for the chords I can but I don't want to randomly spam your page and come off like some sort of nut case :P. Well, at least no more than usual ha ha. It really is a nice song though, no doubt about it :).
Topside by MicroD

This has a nice sound. It kind of reminds me of one of those Code Masters games released later in the nes's life around the early 90's. This would be right at home in some platforming adventure game :). This is well made, I'm looking forward to that album. Good luck with it ;).

This makes me think of some kind of fighter select screen but yet the characters you can choose from are like huge wrestling cyborgs LOL. Imagine a game where it plays out kind of like some crazy arcade wrestling game, yet someone might have electric shock hands, or a bionic eye that shoots lasers. Or maybe someone does a pile driver but uses jet boots to shoot higher into the air and then hurdle towards the ring like a comment for a finishing attack. Ha ha. I imagine this screen is like selecting your character and picking what kind of armor and upgrades he has before you get into the ring. Like wrestling battle cyborgs select screen ha ha ha. *Backs away from the computer screen realizing how insane he sounds* :)

This makes me think of like an intro to a space ship shooter game where this part has text scrolling by giving you a brief back story and some fancy 16 bit cut scene magic :). The song may be a bit more on the simplistic side but it certainly paints a vivid picture. Well done :).

He may also be using sunvox but this sounds like possibly mod plug to me as well :).

Absolutely make music again Otakumode. :)

Stare into the eye! Behold the power of Dropbit Collective.

You make LSDJ sing :).

Oh yeah, this one :D.

The more chip sites the better! I'm joining all of them. Dropbit collective 2014! I mean..."Psh...he's not going to make it guys.." *Nods yes while saying it*

This is so amazingly 90's. To think this is mod plug is nuts. It's very full sounding, and damn if those sounds/samples don't sound awesome together. Keep this up and you'll be legendary :). Great job!
Unwind by Wheely

Awesome. I agree with everyone else. I missed your music buddy :D. Great to hear a song from you again. Can I have those drum samples :P? I'll trade sounds with ya, I wonder what I could make with drum sounds like that in VGMM? This has a great blend of sounds, and killer production. Solid all around :).

Ha ha I had way too much fun on this one :). Circuit Bird got the ball rolling, and then we carried it forward to a decent point and Groove polished it up with some nice sound design tweaks. All in all it was tons of fun and we made a great team. I think Circuit Bird wants to work with us again. She sure took on an ambitious first song with VGMM. I guess her mod plug and LSDJ experience payed off eh? :D

This is cool man, it reminds me of something very calm and soothing. If you've ever played that weird game flower for ps3 it's calm and trippy as hell. You can get lost in it ha ha.

I think this one has Tudd in it too ha ha ha. Also I gotta teach you to go into the preferences tab and put the PSG slider all the way to the left. It makes psg louder :).

You know, sometimes things just need to come out and we let the chips fall where they may. I've heard about what's going on with the tornadoes and I've seen the news, but to live through it or have it be close to home? Man, I don't even have words. Just know that I too just play my heart out when things trouble me, and so I really connect with you on that level. You do what you need to do man, hang in there.
Robotica by Jolly

Ha ha I like the way mega man dances to it :P

Ha ha this is really cool dude!

Ha ha, the jazz master strikes again. I think I did most of the psg and drum tweaks, and a breakdown in the middle, but rob had the main parts down and then came up with that rad ending ha ha. Excellent teamwork yet again :).
Pie by MegaFlare

Nice one :).
Biodigital Jazz, Man by awesomeforce

Hmm, pretty neat concept :). Maybe you can layer the kick and snare sounds with a deeper kick and snare on top of the ones you already have after the intro so that the drums are just as fierce sounding as the bass. Nice collection of sounds you have going on here. I also agree with Wheely. Keep at it :).

Let's Fight! by FlackoWeasel

Cool, it seems you have a nice ear for melody :). That's a very good thing. It means you have one of the most important things down and will only get better the more songs you write. If you'd like a few suggestions for improvement I have a couple. First, white noise is good for hi-hat's but not quite powerful enough for a good percussion. I would suggest either grabbing some NES DPCM samples to use, or simply take some normal drum samples and lower the bit rate until it's nice and crunchy and make some beats with those. That will give your tunes more energy :). Listen to some NES tunes from Konami to see how that sounds to give you an idea :), Another thing that might help is sometimes putting pitch slides between notes at key points in a solo, and putting some vibrato on the tale end of longer notes. You're not bad now, but I can't wait to see how good you get after few more songs :) Keep it up!

Ha ha Groove and his samples :). This one was fun.

Oh snap!

LOL oh weird....I totally told culture that his tune would go well with a hip hop beat even though it sounded closer to ecco the dolphin. :P Did you see that comment? Or was that just coincidence? Either way that's rad. Ha ha ha.

This is really interesting......:).

Bad ass :).

Not bad, I know it's inspired by Ecoo music but a trip hop beat might sound awesome in here ha ha.

Not too bad :). Melodies are a bit strange, but it's not bad :).

To me this is a classic of yours. It really shows what you can do, I'm glad you uploaded it. Super easy like :P.

You rule dude! :)
Virakia City by Sivryk

That's a pretty solid track dude, I don't see anything wrong with it. One thing I will say is there are actually a lot more sounds you can get out of that engine than what you are using. When you finally switched to that phazed lead it help out quite a bit, but there are some different sounds you can make...try experimenting with different detunes and multi's to create different tones. You can also have some parts be at different speeds if you like because each pattern can have it's own speed and even it's own length. Your melodies are pretty cool, and you are experimenting a little with different sounds and I appreciate that. If you like, make some little loops and experiment with different sounds until you find a new combination that you like. Then, when you have a cool setting apply it to your next longer track. Keep doing that, and you will have a sound design as well crafted as your melody itself. That will take you from being pretty good, to being great! I hope that helps. If you want, maybe sometime we can work on a track together or something. Maybe that' will help you see what beepola can do :) . Good luck, and dude...music is great..never stop trying to create something new :).

That's spiffy :).

Yeah, most of the Core Riffs are Sonic's but sure had fun with some solo's in here...then Groove did that awesome ending. Good team effort all the way around :).

Right here LOL
DEPTH by Balloonbear

Ah, ok. Well I can understand that. Good luck on your studies dude :).
DEPTH by Balloonbear

Now now, let's not be hasty :). It looks like you'll probably get number 1 with this tune. You're free to take a break for a while but it'd be a real shame if you left for good. Sometimes if I am feeling burnt out, I'll go into a listening mode for a while and try to get inspired by other artists. Eventually, something clicks and I come back with a new song :). I hope that happens for you. I think you are too good to leave :). Please continue to make music. If you must leave ucollective, at least tell us where your new music will be so we can see what you'll be up to. Good luck man :).
DEPTH by Balloonbear

Pretty cool man :).

Hey! That's not bad :). Pretty snazzy for a first completed track man. Keep it up, you've got sound design down. Now it's time to tighten up those melodies so that all the notes harmonize well together next time. It's not bad now, and especially good for a first song. However I think you will continue to improve and I am looking forward to that. Keep at it man. You're doing well :).

Damn man, this is awesome. Also, I want a school that has a project like that! What a rad assignment ha ha ha!

Ha! That's awesome. Chill Penguin and Sting Chameleon fused and became Chill Chameleon :) This remix is rad dude, nice job!

I want to play this game. Bob Saget uppercuts a T-Rex and there is canned laughter when it dies ha ha ha. Seriously this one is rad dude, there's a good reason why this man is part of Team FM-Possible :). You keep making new things lately and I am always excited to see what you come up with next. Sega music is all over the place lately. Man, I love it ha ha. Nice tune :).

For some reason that ending cracks me up :).

Well, this is great. What more needs to be said. It's excellent....

This is so good, I wish my first completed VGMM song sounded like that Ha ha ha! You rock dude :D! Look out guys, this man is on fire :).

Cool, thanks but I have a pretty decent ear. I think I'll treat it like a "VGmix" you know take your core ideas and then throw in some of my own. Like an unofficial collaboration or something ha ha. It's going to drill into my head and at one point I'll probably have to make it LOL

Oh snap Nario is back :D. I love this melody dude. I swear one of these days I am remixing it Ha ha ha!

Yes! We got some rad Sega Genesis metal tracks going on this week :). Kind of gives me a Road Rash vibe somehow. I like it :).

I would take down the distortion just a little, like dropbit says the idea is good...and I get that it's noisey and has a live feel and I like that :) Just, wish things were a little more clear..but yeah agreed keep doing what you're doing man. Pretty interesting ha ha.

Damn dude, you are like the new thunderforce up in here. That's awesome man. I'm impressed...again...ha ha ha!

I finished Blu Ska in about 9 hours :P. However, my song wasn't an Arabic Neo Classical master piece :). I challenged him to make some drum n bass, and this dude went above and beyond in about a day...with a much busier scheduled than mine. All I can say dude, is you have my respect :). Well, you already did...but you know what I mean ha ha ha.

This is pretty rad dude :).

Well, I checked out the original and uhhh...as I suspected the video is strange :P. However, many of the chips we use to make our music come from Japan so I can't complain...and darn it if the music isn't catchy as hell :P. J pop isn't really my thing, but I can appreciate when something is done well. Good job man, you have a pretty decent ear :). Some notes near the end of the melody on the bass were different from the original but it didn't sound bad. I'll just take it as an arrangement choice :). Keep up the good work man, Oh yeah, my latest tune on here is a trance thing so you might like it :P. Trance is new for me so any feedback would be great. Thanks :D.
Groove [LGPT] by nuclace

Oh man...yeah that's pretty impressive dude. I hate to say "Sounds like anamanagochi or however you spell that crazy band's name..but..it does :P. However considering how popular those dudes are, It's not really a bad thing. It's not my preferred style to listen to but all the same I appreciate when something is done well, and you sir have done well :). Nice job.

The Western Rim by TheNBN

This is great dude. I hear you branching out in your style a bit and I really like it. It's still you, but it feels more refined :). Keep this up.

Make more original music dude :). Nothing wrong with a remix now and then...but with originals you really get to express yourself more and people get to see just what kind of musician you are :). See, I used to do remixes too. Even got a couple on OCremix, but once I got into chip music and this community I never looked back :). At the end of the day make whatever you like, but I still encourage you to write more original tunes. You have a knack for it, and I think this proves you are much more than just a remix artist. Well done sir :).

Oh no... :)

Oh no, well I knew one of us was going to put it up :). There's an interesting story behind this one. Groove said he liked my original so much he was going to remix it. I said alright, but he kept focusing on the first part of the song and I wondered why...turns out he had an incomplete VGE file :P. When I gave him my original finished song, then it clicked for us both and we were able to finish it. We must have gone through so many versions of this. I think I lost count somewhere around "Jade Hills Credits Theme Final 1" which was something like version 12? That's not counting all the little tweaks and saves we did in between sending it back and forth. That one was like..oh man. LOL It looks like I'll be competing against myself this week eh? 1 bit Jredd VS 16 bit Jredd Groovemaster303....uhhh...round 1....FIGHT! :P

I'm really happy this one charted. Excellent job guys :).
Amber Tavern (Sega Genesis) by Groovemaster303

I beefed up the drums with some custom samples :). Rob took care of the chord progressions, and groove did most of the arrangement and melodies except for the solo starting at around 1:40-ish. That was a Jredd solo. Thanks guys. :)

That's a smooth groove. Hmm, maybe I can bust out some keys and solo over this and see what happens ha ha.

He totally does, I am not at all ashamed to be second next to this guy :)
Hysteria (Muse cover) by gotoandplay

Nicely done :). I'd almost say you should use some DPCM samples but It'd take the strength away from the triangle channel which would require some readjustment of the other instruments to compensate. Besides that, your noise drums and use of the triangle channel here is pretty impressive, as well as all the other instruments so I guess in the end I wouldn't change a thing :D. Well done, I have a friend who is a big Muse fan who'd probably get a kick out of this :P.

This is good, I heard it on soundcloud. When the vocals come in, I think it would be cool to put just a tad bit of compression and a little bit of delay/echo there. But that's a small thing. Nice track :).

Gewitter by TRIaC

This is really cool dude! One of my favorite game boy tracks I've heard in a long time, and the effects you use are done in just the right way. Is this nanoloop? Very impressive dude. This one is fantastic :D.
Nexus by Pixeltune

He he he, I think we all do that :). Have that sound in our head that seems strangely familiar and not quite know where it comes from. Gerudo Valley probably got it's ideas elsewhere :P Besides, It's not like Gerudo Valley had a piano or game boy in it :P.

Hey, I remember you! You were always unique. This sounds like...chip stuff but played live? How the...ha ha. I love you.
Nexus by Pixeltune

Hey, this isn't that bad dude. Gotta give props to a live piano :). I think it would have been cool to hear some ambient game boy noise with heavy reverb during the piano intro after the first minute or so just to help the transition. I like the idea though, you don't hear that many live paino game boy combos. Also, these chords remind me a lot of Gerudo Valley but that's fine :). I like that song too, and it's a good chord progression. I think if the Piano part were just a little shorter, or had 8 bit noise to accompany it to kind of smooth it over that the flow would be a little better. Even so, I like where this is going and I really like the idea of live instruments and chip music together :). I also have a tune called Nexus but it's completely different :P. Nice job on this over all. The piano intro isn't that bad and recorded better than I would expect, plus the LSDJ part rules. If you could find a way to blend these 2 elements a little smoother if you try this again I think you might really be on to something. Keep it up :D.

Nicely done, heard this on soundcloud. I think your music is only going to get better from here on out :). I look forward to more man. :)

Dynamite Girl by Kommisar

Yeah!!!

Oh cool! That's pretty creative. I never thought of doing that :D

Ha ha, this is interesting. I like it a lot :).

Yeah, I loved working on this one. Probably one of the coolest songs I've ever been a part of. All of our styles meshed super well, and those e-paino chords Otakumode came up with just fueled the creative fire. I think his original file was called "sniff" ha ha I love those awesome WIP names. I think Groovemaster came up with Castle of Shards, I don't know what that means but it somehow fits super well. I always tell people I wouldn't be as good as I am now without all the cool things I learned from collaborations with others. This song here taught me a lot, and it wouldn't be what it is without Otakumode and Groove. Fantastic teamwork guys! :)

Ha ha, welcome home. Although, I gotta warn ya a lot of us love this place, it's kind of a whore :P. All kidding aside welcome man, your skill with LSDJ will fit right in :).

Odd, how do you make it sound like it was played live when both fami and VGMM are trackers? LOL

I would say via e-mail could be the best way to get a hold of me, but my e-mail is a hotmail one and msn recently merged with skype..and it's weird. So uh...skype perhaps? My name on there is kidjredd. So, if you have skype just add that and I am on there fairly regularly. If you want to leave me a message I just go by my real name Trevin Hughes on facebook. Other options include leaving me a PM on chipmusic.org, noisechannel.org. Or even soundcloud. All of those have PM systems. I have an e-mail Mystro88 (at) hotmail.com *no spaces and @ obviously. But I'd say your best bet is one of those chip music sites or soundcloud with the pm system, or skype...I hardly ever check e-mail. I hope that helps man, and I am looking forward to whatever big project you have going on. Let me know more and I'd probably like to be a part of it :).

Ha ha ha that sounds kind of cool with the room reverb. Makes it sound like a live chip show. For some reason, I want to name this "Disco Death Ball" and I have no idea why. The melodies are strange, but the beat rules ha ha!
Mechanical by gdiffuser

Pretty cool :).

Ah, checked the sound cloud link. Nice work :).

Nice sound design, but this is indeed weird :).

I listened to this and was like "hmmm", I'd better check out the original so I did lol. Now that I have a point of reference, I can take a better look at it. What I think is this, it's a decently made cover but I only found the original to be ok. This is fairly accurate aside from a few odd notes here and there, but then the original has odd notes too...so I guess it comes down to personal preference. It's a decent cover/remix, and kudos for converting it to 2A03 limitations, but I wasn't that impressed with the original song you covered either. So you know, nice cover and all but the song itself isn't quite my cup of tea :). I like a lot of your other works, but this just wasn't my thing because of the source material mostly :).

That's pretty damn impressive guys. Both of you are some pretty bad ass musicians in your own right, and combined, well what a killer combination is all I have to say. Danimal's Prog hooks and Zef's infectious electro rolled into one. :)

Well, it is a catchy theme after all :P. Nice remix.

Wow! This is really really cool. How in the world did you make that one synth that sounds like a voice/choir? I'm telling you dude, if we ever combine forces on a tune the power will be too great for the internet to handle :). Your FM only tunes continue to amaze me sir :D.

Not Much by GoodMannerz

Hmmm...not bad man :). Cool beat, decent melodies, and the bass fits well too when it comes in. Though it is a bit sparse. Nothing wrong with what you have, but it'd be cool to add in some like...backing pads, maybe some little harmonies and such. Perhaps some swelling and crashing cymbals to transition between some parts. Don

Pretty cool sound :)

I can dig it :). It'd be cool to hear, maybe after this into for the noise snare to have a bit more of a smack to it with a bit of delay/echo on there. Maybe a low sub bass, get a reggae/dub groove going? Just a thought, either or I'm with Wheely, I like what you have so far as well :).

Pretty impressive dude. It has lots of variation , good sound design, is catchy as hell and yes it made me smile :). I'm sure it's going to be a hit.
Scrape The Tape by Gigglesplat

This is pretty interesting. Atari 2600? Those are some rather difficult sounds to make music with. I like the sound of this, but I think it's a bit on the long and repetitive side. You could probably cut the length of this by about half or a 3rd so that it's around 3 or 4 minutes long and you'd still have enough time for all the parts to be accounted for without it dragging. That's more of a personal preference though, I enjoyed it. You don't hear much Atari 2600 style things. I think you should do some more :).

That's a phat beat!

Pretty rad buddy :).

Lol I pressed enter by accident too. I was going to say I think someone like you could do great things with VGMM considering you are this skilled with FM synthesis :)

Cool, thanks for the clarification. That's a lot of options for different ways to use that sound chip. Seems pretty interesting. So 9 channels of FM with panning eh? Well it sounds pretty neat. I use VGMM, which is modeled after Sega Genesis/Mega Drive which is 6FM channel 4OP 3 PSG and one Noise channel, with the option to sacrifice one FM channel for sample playback. I think you'

This is really cool sounding man! How many sound channels does OPL3 have?

Blooming Oysters by CarnivorouS

Ummm.....well...it...uh...sounds....interesting? :P It's like...if a C64 was haunted, and...having a seizure. Dude...this is so long....You know what? I'm listening to the whole thing....yep...hey maybe you can start some kind of abstract hipster chip movement and say this song is like the mourning of all the old game consoles that are no longer played and this is their song of protest.
scrubstep by tempsoundsolutions

Ha ha interesting sound design. I'd opt for perhaps beefier drums, and something that's a bit more melody-centric in the composition. That's probably personal preference talking though, I wouldn't want to ruin the vibe :).

Dude! I love how 8 bit this sounds :D.

What the? A VGMM song of yours I don't know about? You sneaky devil you :D. This is pretty cool. 6/8? Sounds good dude, really fits the underwater theme well :).

If nothing else, if you have an account over at chipmusic.org it has a very simple to use PM system there and it's yet another place to put your music and get comments on, and I check there often so yeah :). If nothing else, that or like soundcloud if you want to get in contact with me ;).

I don't see an e-mail from you. Then again sometimes msn is screwy. I'm trying to get our music posted somewhere. Noisechannel seems to be busy, and I got in contact with someone on facebook who has a net label. I might just put a demo of it up somewhere and ask around to see if anyone would like to host our little EP. There's always a bandcamp thing we can do, but it just always seems cooler to me when someone else is like "Yeah, I like this let's spread the word :). So I'll keep asking around.

Hey man, I made 3 FM only songs of my own and put it together with yours. I sent the idea to Noisechannel.org. With any luck hopefully they'll pick it up and we'll be a nice little EP together. Have you got a specific place I should contact you? I'd like to send the song to you and see what you think. Our styles are quite different, but I think it's cool and shows the diversity of what you can do even with just FM :).

Cyberdrake by Tilde

I like it. It sounds a little like Kirby and F Zero X combined to me for some reason ha ha.
thanks by wailord

I don't know why I like it, I just do. It sort of reminds me of monster party on the nes. A very very strange game :D.

I have an idea. I bet if you took some of these ideas, worked out some transitions and combined them that you'd have some pretty killer songs. It solves 2 things at once. First of all it turns your ideas into finished things, and second it removes the idea of something being repetitive because you shift into a new groove and so it now becomes progressive. I think it could work because of the fact that even though these all sound different they are made by the same person so they naturally have some similarity because of your style. If you can look at these bits of songs in a new light with a goal to combining them, I'll bet with a few tweaks you already have some "finished" songs sitting there right under your nose :). Give it some thought man, these all sound pretty cool. I'd rather have them combined than sitting there collecting dust :) Well, that's my 2 cents. Hope it helps :D.
Polypathy by gsmith

Huh! I don't think I've heard you do much dance stuff. Not bad, the most important thing is that your strong sense of melody is still here where it counts :). Pretty cool man.

I heard this one on soundcloud. It's bad ass sir :).

Well you know? We all gotta start somewhere :).I don't really know how to work LSDJ myself, but if you are ever interested in famitracker, beeepola or VGMM tracker. I can possibly help with that. One tip, I'd say next time try working on your melodies first and then worry about the sound design after you have that a bit more solid in your mind. Don't give up though, we all get better with time. Keep it at :D.
Onward (YM2612) by Groovemaster303

Ah yes! You put it up, I love this one :D. We work great together man. So many cool sounds in here ha ha!

I keep coming back to this one. It's so strange and funky. I enjoy the hell out of it :D.

Holy crap this just keeps getting better. It's like Simon Belmont is having a house party. That break down is so rad!

I don't know man, I'd say it's more funk-tastic than sad but I ain't complaining :D.

Oh man, once again AWESOME sound design...all without DAC or PSG. You really make the most of those 6 channels man :D. Alright, if you'd rather work alone...how about contributing to an album of ours with one of your tunes or more as a guest? I'm serious man, you're good. More people need to hear your stuff ha ha!

Passing By [2xlsdj] by Cooshinator

It's funny, I'm usually not into longer intros...but this is so atmospheric :). I really appreciate what you have accomplished here. It's beautiful sounding man. It's nice to hear something on game boy that more mellow and really creates a mood. Then, when it speeds up for a while it comes at just the right time and provides a really neat contrast. I really can't praise you enough for how well put together this is. Excellent job man :).

Hmm :). I love DKC music. This is a nice more minor spin on a classic, but I like it :D. Aw man, there's a Donkey Kong Country album coming out? I wish I would've known about it. It'd be cool to try and do something from there in a Sega Genesis style :).
Sega Funk Zone by Groovemaster303

:-D! Aw, you flatter me kind sir. Truth be told, I have always held your music in rather high regard and the chance to finally work together with you last year was a complete joy. It continues to be that way now, and solo tracks of yours like this remind me yet again why I just knew I had to work together with you on something. Our first try? Out came Volt City, and it has been one stellar hit after another ever since :). We all take breaks from music, but true musicians never really walk away from it entirely. Even when we aren't sitting there composing, our brains are playing the tune in our head. It keeps bugging us until we have no choice but to form it into something. Then when we do, it's a real joy and accomplishment. Then we wonder why we took the break in the first place...then you hit that wall...and remember there is a life outside of music and take the break..but then music finds some way to pull you back in again. I can't speak for everyone, but I am pretty sure as long as I am physically able to I will probably repeat this cycle my entire life :P.
DRIZZLE by skinnyhead

Wow dude, this is really cool. I can't figure out for the life of me why nobody has commented on this. It's fantastic!
Discovery by MaskedEpsilon

Hmmm...pretty cool. It kind of reminds me of an underwater level which fits the title rather well. Your compositions are always pretty solid. Even in this mellower, simpler state you manage to craft something pleasant to listen to. Let me think. It can be a bit tricky to figure out how to add to this type of track while still keeping things with this vibe but I'll try to give out a few suggestions. Hopefully these little tweak ideas can add up to a nice improvement. For starters, I think you can add in some very light bongos or ghost rim shot hits and still keep the mellow feel of the track. Also, I think some panning on some of the background chimes and that cool twangy synth could make it sound a bit more full. I'd like to hear some echo on the lead melody as well, kind of give it more character. As for what to do after this loop ends? Well, how about nice crash into a part with some warm swelling pads, a slow trip-hop beat, and a lead that sounds like an ocarina or a theremin with kind of a mystical sound to it. This part could also have a bit more expression in the bass. Maybe some shimmery bells or something? Ha ha, I don't know I'm just throwing ideas out there dude. It's a nice sound, and I think it'd be cool to hear it polished and expanded. Keep at it man, sounds pretty neat so far :).

This is bad ass sir :D.

I like this song a lot, but I tend to agree with wheely as well. Cool stuff though, rad sound design and the melodies are killer once they kick in. I get that a staple of the genre is the whole build up thing, so I guess that's personal preference there :D.

I've often wondered what VCMG unce might sound like. Not bad man. :). I'm glad it still has your strong sense of melody :).
Belladonna by cr33p0ch

Wow...this is really interesting...I can honestly say I've never heard 2 game boys used like this. After a while it starts to sound a bit like an 8 bit orchestra...very dark, ominous, and discordant. I don't know if this will be everyone's cup of tea, but I really appreciate how different this is.

It's all good man. After our album FM-Possible I needed to make a solo release called Vector Nova. So at times I too prefer to work alone :). Well, if you ever change your mind I'd love to work with you man :). You know? You might consider putting an album of your stuff out on Noisechannel, I'm pretty sure it'd go over quite well :). Either way, keep rocking it too man. I can't wait to hear what you put out next :).
